Sea and Sky Aviation was formed because of our passion and enthusiasm for aviation and our desire to make the joy of flying more accessible to the general population. We collectively believe that the sport pilot rating and light sport aircraft have the potential to make flying a reality for a new and large segment of the non-flying public.
Roy Richardson is the Chief Flight Instructor, and has been in aviation for over thirty years and has accumulated more than 14,000 hours total time, most of that time in piston singles and twins. Roy has Commercial Pilot Ratings - land and sea, an Airline Transport Rating with Single-Engine, Multi-engine and Instrument Flight Instructor Certificates - as well as an Airframe and Powerplant license with Inspector Authorization. Roy has an enviable track record for helping students get their licenses as quickly, safely and affordably as possible. Roy received his Bachelors degree in Aeronautics at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and continued with 2 years of law school until returning to aviation full time. In addition, Roy co-authored the book "When Grandma Learned to Fly," which sold out and is currently under a rewrite for publication. Roy was also the pilot interface designer for the first multi-color GPS for the Ashtec AV-12, which was eventually bought by Apollo.
